Proper surface preparation and application pressure are essential to achieving the strongest bond.
1. Prepare the Surface
For best adhesion, surfaces must be clean and dry.
Remove all dust, oils, wax, and contaminants before applying tape.
Recommended cleaning method:
- Wipe the surface using isopropyl alcohol
- Allow the surface to fully dry before application
Dirty or contaminated surfaces can significantly reduce bonding strength.
2. Apply the Tape
- Cut BeeBond tape to the desired length.
- Apply the tape to the first surface and press firmly.
- Remove the liner backing.
- Align the second surface carefully before bonding.
Avoid stretching the tape during application.
Tape stretch should not exceed 4%, as excessive stretching may reduce performance.
3. Apply Pressure
Firm pressure is required to create full contact between the adhesive and the bonding surface.
Recommended guideline:
Approximately 15 psi of momentary pressure across the bond line.
Pressure activates the adhesive and improves wet-out of the surface.
4. Prevent Air Bubbles
When applying tape:
- Press evenly from one end to the other
- Avoid trapping air pockets
- Apply consistent pressure along the entire bond line
Proper installation ensures maximum adhesion strength.
