The BeeBond bonding process
Five stages, one reliable bond. Every BeeBond guide on this site hangs off this process — train a new hire from this page.
1. Prep
Clean both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and let them dry completely. Confirm the surfaces are on the suitable list — glass, metal, sealed stone, tile, ABS and rigid plastics, smooth sealed paint — and not on the do-not-use list (PE, PP, textured or chalky surfaces, oily or uneven work).
2. Apply
Cut the tape to the length your load and surface call for (see the Tape Calculator). Apply it to the part without stretching — no more than 4% — keeping the liner in place until the part is positioned.
3. Pressure
Press firmly across the full bond area: about 15 psi momentary pressure, held at least 15 seconds for Clear and about 20 seconds for Black, worked from one end to the other so air never gets trapped under the tape.
4. Cure
Set the part and leave it. Adhesion builds after application — peel strength at 72 hours is higher than at 30 minutes — and maximum bond strength develops in 24 hours. Do not load the joint to its working load before then.
5. Remove & Store
When a bond has to come apart, split the foam core with a blade or wire, peel the residue, and clean with isopropyl alcohol. Store unused rolls cool, dry, flat, and in their packaging. Full details on the Removal & Storage page.
At every stage the next step is the same choice: buy the roll, start with a sample, or send us your surfaces for an application review.
